National Conference on Weights and Measures Update
January 18, 2017 by John Maynes |
The National Conference on Weights and Measures held its Interim Meeting in San Antonio, Texas, last week. Issues important to Petroleum Marketers included a 10-micron filter mandate on retail diesel dispensers, a proposal to lower the regulatory threshold on water in diesel fuel storage tanks from 1 inch to ¼ inch, as well as the development of uniform ethanol labeling guidelines.
Fortunately, the NCWM appears poised to remove the potentially costly 10-micron filter mandate off its future agenda. The next item that industry will be keeping a close eye on is the development of a new regulatory standard for water in diesel storage tanks. The new standard could prove to be an extremely costly one without a defined benefit. The proposal remains in the development stage before the NCWM and will be an issue that PMCI monitors closely as it moves through the NCWM process.
