Dawn Carlson,CAE PRESIDENT

Dawn Carlson is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Petroleum Marketers & Convenience Stores of Iowa. Dawn is responsible for the overall administration of three corporations: PMCI, RINAlliance, Inc. and the PMCI Trust as well as, implementing the policies of the Board of Directors. Dawn oversees the association’s lobbying efforts, political fundraising, marketing, public relations, publishing and communications, finance and overall operations in addition to overseeing the business services and health and employee benefit programs offered to members. A graduate of Iowa State University and former lobbyist for Iowa cooperatives, Dawn has been with PMCI since 1995 and was promoted to President in 2003. Dawn serves on the executive committee of the Petroleum Marketers Association of America, is a Certified Association Executive and member of the American Society of Association Executives and serves on the Board of Directors of the Iowa Society of Association Executives. She serves on the Iowa Biodiesel Board, the Iowa Comprehensive Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Fund Board, the Keep Iowa Clean & Beautiful Task Force, and the Iowa Tobacco Advisory Committee. Jeff Hove VICE PRESIDENT

Jeff Hove joined PMCI in 2004 with a background in regulatory compliance and quickly became a  passionate advocate for our members. Prior to joining PMCI, he worked in environmental and compliance careers, most recently as a claims consultant for the Iowa Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund. Jeff serves on the Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Board for the State of Iowa and has a primary focus on increasing economic incentives for renewable fuel blenders.  In 2007, he created the RINAlliance program that provides marketers with compliance tools for blending renewable fuels within the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard.  The program serves 100+ companies across the nation and provides marketers with added profit through the marketing of  RINs (renewable fuel credits).  He assists members with other federal and state industry compliance requirements.  Jeff graduated with a B.S. degree in Groundwater Management/Hydrogeology from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. Alyse Biondi CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Alyse brings over twenty-eight years experience to PMCI. She is our Creative Director for the design and production of the Iowa Oil Spout Magazine and all brochures, decals and forms. She manages the Iowa Oil Spout advertising contracts, the PMCI website and order full-fillments for PMCI products. Alyse is also the PMCI resident photographer.

She lives in West Des Moines with her husband Zak and two Yorkshire Terriers. Alyse is a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Arsenal Island. John Maynes LEGAL AFFAIRS SPECIALIST
John Maynes joined PMCI in 2006.  His responsibilities include assisting members with regulatory and government compliance issues. He is primarily responsible for renewable fuels compliance and transportation issues but also is adept at the tax issues and aboveground tank questions that come in to the office. Prior to joining the staff at PMCI, John worked for Harms Oil Company in Brookings, South Dakota as a member of their legal staff.  His responsibilities included the Visa-Mastermoney antitrust litigation, property issues, contracts, and compliance.  John graduated from the University of South Dakota with a B.S. in History and continued his education receiving a JD from the University of South Dakota School Of Law.  In his free time John enjoys the outdoors and playing golf and spending time with his family.  E-mail John at john@pmcofiowa.com.
Danell Lilland ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

Danell is Assistant Controller, joining PMCI in 2006.  She manages accounts payable and receivable and supports her fellow workers in keeping the office running smoothly.  Danell has several years of bookkeeping and management experience.  She’s excited to serve our members and assist them with their accounting needs.  Danell and husband, Adam have two young sons. In her her spare time she enjoys Tai Chi, Reiki, reading, volunteer work and spending time with her family. Brian Shadle, PMP VICE PRESIDENT OF FINANCE

Brian joined PMCI in 2009.  He primarily manages the software development and financial aspects of the RINAlliance program and oversees several aspects of the PMCI accounting and finance operation.  Since graduating from Iowa State, Brian has spent the last 20 years in several industries including public accounting, manufacturing, environmental health and safety, consulting services, and commercial real estate.  Brian started his career as a CPA and has gone on to hold several senior level Finance/Accounting positions.  He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and an active member of the Project Management Institute-Central Iowa.  Brian, his wife Debbie, and their two wonderful children live in Clive.  In his free time, Brian enjoys playing golf, working out, competing in an occasional triathlon or marathon and helping out his favorite charities. Sandy Bland, CMP DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND EVENTS
Sandy joined PMCI in 2010. Her responsibilities include educational event planning and meeting coordination. Prior to joining the staff, she was a marketing manager for a national technology firm where she managed customer retention programs, client events and trade show participation. Sandy grew up as an Iowa farm girl, but also lived for several years in the San Francisco Bay Area where she worked in community relations for an oil refinery.  Since graduating from college, she has earned professional designations as a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and Certified Trade Show Marketer (CTSM). Sandy and her husband, Gary, have three children in high school and college. In her spare time she enjoys cooking, traveling, camping, scrapbooking and scuba diving. Ginger Laidlaw PROJECT MANAGER
Ginger serves the RINAlliance team as a Project Manager. The RINAlliance program assists marketers across the nation in complying with the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard and provides blenders with added profit through the marketing of renewable fuel credits. Ginger is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. degree in Earth Science, and has over thirteen years of environmental compliance experience which includes environmental consulting and working with federal environmental compliance at Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Ginger holds certifications as a Groundwater Professional of Iowa and Certified Floodplain Manager and has worked with many of our PMCI members in her prior career.  Sue Derscheid MEMBER RELATIONS MANAGER
 

Sue recently joined PMCI and brings nearly 20 years of association experience and enthusiasm with her to manage PMCI’s member relations. Her experience includes membership, corporate relations, marketing, budgeting, state relations, education, and event planning. Sue’s background also consists of selling advertising and publication services to a number of associations which lead to ten years with the Iowa and American Soybean Association. She is a graduate of Simpson College and the Institute for Organization Management.

Sue and her husband Dale live in Urbandale where they are avid sports fans. They enjoy spending time with family, friends, traveling, and the great outdoors. They have 2 adult daughters, Becky and Julie, and, Barley – the grand dog. E-mail Sue at sue@pmcofiowa.com.
